East London Printmakers in Space - exhibition
Triangle Gallery, Space, 129 Mare Street, London E8
16th-21st July 2010
This summer, ELP celebrated its twelfth year with a group show at the Triangle Gallery in Hackney, next door to the ELP studio. Exciting new work was shown by nearly 50 artist printmakers.
The exhibition was a great success, attracting many visitors, both to the private view and throughout the show. Several exhibitors sold their prints and there has been some very good feedback on the quality of the work shown.
The exhibition was opened by Julia Beaumont-Jones, Collection Registrar, Prints & Drawings, Tate. Julia made an excellent opening speech, complimenting the artists on the exhibition and ELP on its progress from small beginnings to the organisation that it has become today. She said ELP was carrying out important work, providing studio facilities to artists and promoting printmaking to the public, in particular to the local community, through its open access and workshops programme.
Julia then presented the following prizes from the exhibition sponsors :
Intaglio Printmaker Nick Morley
Printmakers Council Martin Davidson
A P Fitzpatrick Shiho Takizawa
GreatArt Dena Schuckit
